Land sale partnership to deliver long-term change in Crewe
Muse Developments’ Land Promotion Agreement with the Witter Trust has cause to celebrate, as Homes England has bought 23.5 acres of residential land at Basford East, Crewe.
With Crewe a town experiencing real growth having been identified as a location for a HS2 hub, this latest land sale signals a period of long-term activity in the area.
Granted planning consent included 325 new family homes, commercial office and business space, improved infrastructure and a new local centre. Up to 1,200 jobs could be created by the development, with the local centre to include proposals for shops, a health centre and a pub/restaurant.
David Burkinshaw, development director at Muse Developments said: “We’re very pleased to conclude the sale of residential land to Homes England, which will bring forward the delivery of housing and major infrastructure works.
“The commitment of Homes England will enable us to open up the site, bring forward our retained 10 acres of commercial land development, and support the development of the Crotia Mill Farm buildings and site.”
Duncan Inglis, Head of Accelerated Delivery North West at Homes England said: “Buying this land will speed up the delivery of more than 300 much needed family homes and support Cheshire East’s growth plans ahead of HS2 coming to Crewe. Homes England will work with the council to bring forward the development and also create job opportunities in the construction sector.
“The plans for the local centre will help build a real community in this part of Crewe.”
Ed Rooney, development director at Savills Manchester, said: “We are delighted to negotiate and secure this land sale on behalf of The Witter Trust and Muse Developments. It is hoped that the site will be a catalyst for future residential and commercial development in this part of Crewe.
“Crewe and the surrounding area will benefit greatly from the good quality housing that will be developed on this site and others over the coming years. It will attract new families to the area as well as providing alternative housing options for existing residents in the town.”
Savills acted for Muse with Owen Land & Property acting on behalf of the Witter Trust.
