Project Description

Muse is Lambeth Council’s selected partner for a project which comprises a new 120,000 sq ft civic office and customer service centre, the refurbishment of a Grade II listed town hall, new public realm and 194 new homes.

The project will reduce the Council's core office buildings from 14 to two, saving at least £4.5m a year. It will also create new jobs and homes and free up space in the town hall for business and community use.

The redevelopment of Town Hall Parade, Hambrook House and Olive Morris House, along with the refurbishment of Ivor House and the town hall, will deliver:

  • A preserved and enhanced Grade II listed town hall, more open and accessible to residents
  • Quality office/ meeting spaces for local enterprise, start-ups and the community
  • A new, energy efficient civic building with much improved customer centre and council offices
  • New homes and landscaped public areas
  • A new cycle hub

Refurbishment of the town hall and Press building commenced in April 2016.  We have now started work on the second part of this phase, which will deliver 120 new homes, 40% of which are affordable, along with new restaurant and retail accommodation located just a few minutes’ walk from Brixton underground station.

We will generate hundreds of new construction jobs, including around 45 apprenticeships, and the scheme will pay for itself through the redevelopment of old and expensive to run office buildings.
