Topping out ceremony marks another key milestone for Lewisham Gateway

Lewisham Gateway marked a key milestone with a Topping Out ceremony for the newest Fizzy Living building.

To mark the structural completion of the new building, the Mayor of Lewisham, Sir Steve Bullock and representatives of the Lewisham Gateway project team including Muse Developments, Sisk and Fizzy Living, gathered on the highest point of the building to celebrate. From this vantage point, the development partners also viewed the new town centre highway network, which is now nearing completion.

The new 15-storey building will deliver 68 new apartments and launch in September 2017. It will join the first ‘Fizzy Lewisham’ building, which opened in September 2016. ‘Fizzy Lewisham’ is the fifth Fizzy development to open in London, and the company’s largest and most ambitious project to date.

Sir Steve Bullock, Mayor of Lewisham said: “I’m delighted to see this project reach another key milestone. The Lewisham Gateway project is a really exciting development for the borough and is going to deliver huge improvements to Lewisham town centre, building on the regeneration which has already been achieved over recent years.”

The building is part of the Lewisham Gateway development – one of the largest regeneration projects in South East London, which will transform the centre of Lewisham.

Michael Auger, Regional Director at Muse Developments, said: “We’re truly excited to be announcing this milestone in delivering Lewisham Gateway. The development has involved many partners and is a genuine reflection of what can be achieved by public / private collaboration.”

Lewisham Gateway is a joint project between Muse, London Borough of Lewisham, the Mayor of London and Transport for London, supported by the Homes and Communities Agency. The plans, which were approved in 2009, set out a vision to regenerate the area between the DLR station and Lewisham Shopping Centre. The project aims also to create new pedestrianized shop-lined streets, a park called Confluence Place and secure the delivery of much needed homes in London.
