Second Stage of Consultation at Marischal Square begins

People living and working in Aberdeen are set to have a further opportunity to share their views on the plans to transform the former St. Nicholas House site in the city into the vibrant new Marischal Square development.

More than 1600 people took the opportunity during October and November to take part in the first stage of the consultation process and Muse is back in the city this week to share progress on the proposals.

Key individuals will again be available at Aberdeen Art Gallery on December 12th, 13th and 14th to discuss the exciting plans to provide a new development for the city, which will include office, hotel, restaurant, leisure and civic space, along with public access, landscaping, car parking and public realm improvements.

There will also be the opportunity to view a new set of project visuals which have been developed following the first round of consultation.  

Muse regional director for Scotland, Steve Turner, “From Thursday, we will be in a position to share further details on the proposals with those keen to find out more about the Marischal Square project.  The event will also provide further opportunities for people living and working in Aberdeen to have an influence on the shape of the city’s new civic and commercial space,”

Deputy council leader Marie Boulton said: “This is a valuable site which can deliver something really special for the future of Aberdeen.  It continues to attract a huge amount of interest and there is no doubt that the new Marischal Square development will play a very important role in bringing more people into the area and regenerating the city centre.”

The exhibition at the Aberdeen Art Gallery will be open to all at the following times:
Thursday 12 December   10.00 – 19.00
Friday 13 December         10.00 – 19.00
Saturday 14 December    10.00 – 15.00

The new set of project visuals was presented to Aberdeen City Council members on Wednesday evening (Dec. 11th).

Julian Taylor, Head of European Managed Funds at Aviva Investors, said the team had been encouraged by the way in which the Marischal Square project was developing, both from a business and public perspective.

“We already have Marriott Residence Inn agreed as the preferred operator for the hotel development and the level of interest in the office and retail space available is also strong even at this early stage,” he added.

“Marischal Square is going to be a significant contributor to the ongoing economic prosperity of Aberdeen City centre and we believe it will also bring real benefits to those living and working in the city.”
