Project Description

Sovereign Leeds Ltd (SLL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Muse Developments, exchanged an agreement for lease with Leeds City Council in relation to the first plot of the Sovereign Street development site. Muse provided SLL with the development platform to progress KPMG’s new office while London-based architect, Scott Brownrigg, was appointed to design the building.

Sovereign Street had been a council-owned car park since the Queen’s Hall was demolished in 1989. In close proximity to the city’s vibrant waterfront area, railway station, city centre and retail core it forms a key part of the Council’s plans to enhance and regenerate the southern part of the city centre.

The site establishes a new and attractive quarter and forms a link between the city’s retail core and the ‘South Bank’ proposals which will see new transport hubs, schools, housing, workspaces and business opportunities taking shape over the next 20 years.

As well as providing improved office facilities for KPMG, the building acted as a catalyst for the creation of a new business quarter in Leeds which will contribute to economic prosperity and maintain the city’s reputation as the region’s economic powerhouse.
